| Component | Description |

| Well point | A small tube (usually 1.5 inches in diameter, 3 feet long) with a perforated screen and tip for easy driving into the soil. |
| Riser pipe | Connects the well point to the header pipe above ground. |
| Header pipe | Horizontal pipe running along the excavation, connecting all well points to the pump. |
| Pump | Creates suction or vacuum to draw groundwater (commonly a wellpoint pump or vacuum-assisted centrifugal pump). |
| Discharge hose | Carries the pumped-out water to a drainage area or containment system. |
